Engineering Grok bots, compared
Engineering is where a Grok bot stops being a chat persona and starts touching the tools you already run. It is also the most tool-connected corner of this directory: GitHub alone outnumbers every other integration here, and the bots that declare nothing are the majority you have to judge on their instructions.

What the numbers say
- 358
- listed engineering bots, by 301 different builders - 14% of the directory.
- 20 of 358
- publish install counts on their own source listing. Any ranking in this category can only order those.
- 23 of 358
- declare a tool connection. An undeclared connection is unknown, not absent. Most declared: github, gmail, youtube, pstack, notion, claude-code.
- 53
- added in the last seven days - this category is still filling up.
The shortlist, by published installs
Ordered by the install count each bot's own source listing publishes - the only outcome measure available, and one that only 20 of 358 listings here provide. It is a ranking of the documented, not of the best.

How we picked
- Every listing was checked against its own public x.ai listing before it appeared, and is re-checked daily; a listing that stops answering is delisted.
- The shortlist below is ordered by install counts published by the source listing — only a minority of listings publish them, so this ranks the documented, not the best.
- The newest-first list is chronological and unfiltered. Nothing here is paid placement.
What these bots actually connect to
Where an engineering bot declares a connection, it is overwhelmingly to a code host or a repo — GitHub by a wide margin, then notes tools, then media sources. The declared set is small and specific, which is useful: a bot that says it connects to GitHub is making a checkable claim, and the listing links the bot so you can check it.
The larger truth is the negative one. Most engineering listings declare no integrations at all. That is not the same as having none — it means the builder did not publish them, and a bot's tool access is something you should confirm inside Grok rather than infer from the absence of a badge.
How to judge one
For a bot like this, the instructions are the product. Two engineering bots with the same one-line description can behave completely differently depending on what they were told to do: one reads your repository and proposes a patch, another opens pull requests without asking. The listing shows you what the builder shared.
Weigh what you can verify. A published install count is one signal, and it is a weak one on its own — it is self-reported, it is unavailable for most listings, and it does not say whether the bot still works. The safety rules on this site apply more sharply here than anywhere else: read the instructions before you run a bot, and never paste a password or an API key into one.
If you want a bot for one narrow job — reviewing a diff, triaging an issue backlog, watching a dependency — say so in the instruction field when you open it. A tool-connected bot with a vague brief is the one that surprises you.

Questions
Are these engineering Grok bots free?
Opening one is free: a Grok bot is a set of shared instructions you open on xAI's platform, not paid software. If a bot asks you for a paid API key or a subscription to do its job, that is the builder's own arrangement, and the listing will usually say so.
How is the shortlist ordered?
By install counts published on the bot's own source listing, highest first. Only a minority of listings publish install data, so bots without it cannot appear in that list regardless of quality — the full category is one click away.
Can an engineering bot write to my repository?
It can do whatever its instructions and its tool connections allow. A bot connected to GitHub may be able to open issues or pull requests on your behalf. Read the instructions and check what it is connected to before you give it a real repository.
